When we moved to Pembrokeshire I quickly looked for groups and clubs that I could join in order to meet new people. Although the thought of meeting and chatting with strangers fills me with dread my last year in Cardiff showed me that forcing myself to do these things was for the best in the long run.

I'd heard of an informal 'crochet club' that was held close to my house and so attended a few weeks after we arrived, even though I had never attempted crochet properly before.

The lovely lady that runs the group patiently showed me how to create a basic granny square and I really enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere. There is something very therapeutic about doing a craft project with other people.

Sadly, due to illness and Josh working in the evenings I haven't been able to attend any of the other meetings since we arrived but I quickly caught the crochet bug and after I finished my first granny square I started a blanket for my new nephew. Although my months of sickness made progress slow I was pleased to finish it in time for Christmas and I was really happy with the final result!

I hope to be able to attend more crochet meetings this year and to begin some new projects soon. I need to decide on what I will create next!

  1. It's beautiful! I love the colors. I actually just purcased yarn and needles to re-teach myself how to knit. I thought it would be theraputic. :)
