New Camera

Just before Christmas we got a new camera – a Canon EOS 700D.

I had been frustrated with our previous camera for over a year now as it was getting old and slow and no longer focussed as well as it could. As a result I was barely taking any photos which was a shame as photography is a hobby that brings me a lot of joy!

I have had fun experimenting with this new camera over the holiday. Focusing is much quicker and quieter, the display is touchscreen and it has an excellent video recorder. I also got a much better 18-135mm lens, which along with the higher ISO means it’s much easier to take shots in our dark and dreary house.

I still have so much to learn and one of my new years resolutions is to become confident at shooting in manual. If anyone has any tips – let me know!

  1. Share what you learn! I got a new camera for Christmas also, and I am sooo overwhelmed with it (in a good way).

  2. Hooray for you!!!
    I love my 18-135.
I can give you tips on shooting in manual. :)

A great book to help you get there (if you haven't read it already) is Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.

  3. How exciting! My camera has been having trouble focusing at times lately - do you think yours started doing that just because it was old?
