The Zoo: Vistaprint Photo Book Review

If you have been reading this blog for a while you’ll know that Josh and I love going on family adventures. However, Josh’s work commitments have meant that these fun days have been few and far between in the last few months, so when Vistaprint offered us a trip to the zoo in order to take some photos to trial one of their photo books we were very excited to take them up on it!

At the start of June we headed off to Bristol Zoo and had a fabulous time. The sun shone all day and most of the animals were really active in the warm weather.

It was Ivy’s first time at the zoo and she seemed to really enjoy it; especially in the exhibits she could get close to the action like the Lorikeets, the seals and sitting in an old Land Rover!

It was a perfect family day out so I was looking forward to creating a photo book with Vistaprint and the book has just arrived! Here’s my review:

Designing the photo book
Vistaprint gives the option to design your photo book on their website, or to download editing software and create your photo book offline. With both options your photos can be loaded automatically into your book or layouts can be created from scratch.

I’m a real perfectionist when it comes to design so I chose the downloadable software as it gives more choice and freedom. The download was quick and the program is easy to navigate and understand.

To be honest I wasn’t really looking forward to designing my book. I’ve used photo book software from other companies and it’s taken me ages to finish my books because the software is difficult to use and doesn’t make designing your own pages particularly easy.
However, I cannot recommend Vistaprint highly enough for its software program – it’s AMAZING! I made my book in about thirty minutes and it was exactly as I wanted it to be. It’s really simple to create layouts and the program cleverly resizes photos as you go along. I even decided to change the size of the book half way through and it automatically changed all my photos and text. I was very impressed!

The Photo book
I am so happy with the quality of my Vistaprint photo book. The leather cover looks really professional and the binding is very neat. The quality of the printing is high, the colours are bright and my photos looked sharp even when printed at A4 size or above.

I chose the lay-flat page option which is great for double page spreads as the fold in the page is much less noticeable and the glossy page finish really brings out the quality of the photographs. Although these are both added extras on the cost of the book I would definitely choose them again as they really show-off the photos to their best – the whole point of a photo book!

This has been my first experience of a Vistaprint photo book and I would highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again in the future. There are currently some great offers on photo products which you can find by visiting their website.

Thanks to Vistaprint for a fabulous day out!

Disclaimer: I was provided with this photo book for free for the purpose of this review but all of the opinions are 100% mine.

  3. I love the idea of these books. I don't know which firm he used, but my husband made family-history books for his siblings last Christmas. Old photos of them all when they were small, parents, grandparents, houses, that sort of thing. There were tears (good ones) apparently!

  4. This is great! I've never thought of making a zoo photo book, but I'm going to do it next time we go. I love going to the zoo, and it's even more fun now that we have kids :)

Thanks for sharing about Vistaprint. I'll have to look into them. I've tried using other companies before and never finish because it's so much trouble.
