Prayers for Platelets

Hi! I’m still here with no sign of baby yet!
Just a quick post to ask you if you would pray for us in the next few days? I got a call from the midwife this morning to say that my blood platelet levels had dropped again (you might remember that I had low platelets several weeks ago).
Platelets help the blood to clot and normal levels are between 150 and 400 million per mililetre. It’s not that unusual for platelet levels to drop in pregnancy but if they drop below 100 then it becomes a cause for concern as you might end up bleeding too much during labour.
My platelets have now dropped to 107. I’m not worried or stressed about it but if it drops below 100 it means I have to give birth on the consulant-led ward instead of the midwifery care unit.
At the end of the day I just want the best for the baby so if we have to go to the consultant-led ward then it’s not the end of the world but I would really prefer to be in the midwife unit. In the consultant ward you have to be attached to a tracing machine all the time so you can’t move around, there aren’t any birthing pools and you can’t eat. Basically it’s all just a bit more laid back in the midwifery care unit.
Would you pray that my platelet levels go up this week? I know that God has it all under control and maybe it’s for the best that we’re in the consultant ward but I would prefer to be in the other unit!
Thanks friends x

  1. I'll be praying for you!!! I developed HELLP when I had Jack, so I understand the seriousness of low platelets. May God restore your numbers to a healthy region and guide you and this baby through the next couple of weeks (leading up to, birth, and after!) :)
