New Clothes

Last week I mentioned in one of my posts about being worried at my lack of maternity clothes, and how it was too expensive to buy a whole new wardrobe of new suitable items.
Although my bump is still pretty compact I’ve always been really slim and as a result I’m bursting out of all my pre-pregnancy clothes. I enjoy dressing nicely and so in a way I was losing confidence with my new pregnancy body as I just felt a bit ridiculous wearing clothes that fitted all wrong.
Well, our faithful God has once again provided for our needs in a way that I really didn’t expect!
Less than a week after I posted my worries look what’s sitting in my bedroom;
Two bags, stuffed full of maternity clothes. And all for free!

My sweet friend Lauren read my blog and generously offered to send down some of her spare maternity clothes for me to use...and there was so much great stuff!
I especially love:
These long dresses. The one on the left will be especially good for a couple of the weddings we’re attending over the summer. I really didn’t want to have to buy an expensive maternity dress just for these one off events – and now I won’t!

I LOVE this pink jersey dress. I’m wearing it to work today and it’s just my colour. Also – maternity leggings? Sooo comfy compared to having the waist band cutting into your bump!

I was thinking that I’d need to buy a new jacket as I’m already too big to fit into my pre-pregnancy ones. This one should do perfectly for the spring and summer...hopefully we don’t have too much rain!

Lauren also sent down loads of basic plain coloured t-shirts, some cardigans, jumpers and several pairs of jeans (I was down to only one pair that fitted me properly!), which should keep me going for the rest of the pregnancy.

I am so happy because a) I have wonderful new clothes, b) I have wonderful, generous friends and mainly because c) I have a wonderful, amazing, generous God who provides for all our needs!

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6: 28-33
