All the news!

In case you were in outer-Mongolia

or otherwise engaged this weekend and

have missed our news check out my last post because...

I’m pregnant!

That’s right – I’m with child. Knocked up. In the family way. I’m going to have a baby!

Eeeeek....so excited!

It's been so hard for me not to blog about this since JANUARY! In fact it has been so hard that I simply haven't been blogging at all - as you will have noticed - because everything I wrote just seemed really false.
I don't want this blog to become all about babies and pregnancy, because there are more things to life, BUT would you just indulge me this week and let me splurge out all the posts that I have been keeping locked up for three months? Well, if you said no then it's tough!

Anyway - I'm sure you want to know some details...I found this questionnaire thing online the other day and thought it would be useful to give you updates throughout pregnancy! Some of it isn't really relevant this early-on in pregnancy but it should give you the gist.

How Far Along: I’m 14 weeks and two days! I’m due on the 16th September.

Baby Size: About 8cm and 40g!

Total Weight Gain: HA! Weight gain?! I have lost about a stone since January; morning sickness is HORRID!
Maternity Clothes?  Haven’t got that far yet, but I’m excited about getting some cute maternity clothes!
Sleep: I have been waking up a little more than usual, but my sleeping pattern is all over the place. I am totally exhausted 80% of the time so motivation to get up and do things is difficult. It is getting better though.

Miss Anything? Eating! I have no appetite and I miss enjoying food. I feel guilty because I’m eating junk but when you feel sick it’s hard to force down things you don’t want. I’m going to miss eating soft cheeses (especially goats’ cheese) the most!

Movement: Apparently you don’t normally feel movement until about 18-20 weeks but I’m definitely aware of growth pains, and sometimes in certain positions I feel like I can feel the weight of the baby inside.  It’s growing like crazy at the moment and is almost doubling its weight weekly so it’s not surprising I can feel something.

Food Cravings: I haven’t really had any cravings yet…just a balance of trying to eat as well as possible even though….

Anything making you queasy or sick? Yes! Most things! Things are so much better than they were though. During February I was terribly sick every day and hardly left the house but I’m gradually getting my energy and appetite back.

Gender: We’ll find out at our next scan on the 30th April! Both Josh and I want to know – although a lot of our friends have said they don’t want us to tell them which I think is unusual! I’ve always thought of the baby as a boy but I don’t know if that’s intuition or just because I think I’d like to have a boy first!

Belly button in or out? HA! Thankfully not an issue yet – but seriously this is something that totally freaks me out! I don’t want my belly button popping!

Wedding rings on or off? I’ve had to swap them over to my middle finger because I’ve lost so much weight that they fall off my ring finger! Sad times.  I’m going to have to put on some weight soon or the midwife will be telling me off at my next appointment.

Looking forward to: Everyone knowing and talking about baby things…getting a bump…and seeing our baby again at the next scan!

We are both SO EXCITED and happy! And I’m so relieved to be finally telling people and being honest J

Check back this week for more updates, and some posts I’ve written in the last couple of months.

  3. YAY Rachel!! :) I'm so glad you can now talk freely on the blog! ;) And I sure feel your misery on the nausea. Sadly mine did not go away until I gave birth the the placenta! :( If yours is already better though, you're going to be fine way sooner than I was!
And don't worry about the belly button...mine never became an outie! :) It did get flattened towards the end (barely a dent even!) but no popping out!
I for one will be very excited to hear the gender soon!! I hope it's the boy you're thinking of!

  8. Congratulations!! That's so exciting. And just so you know, every blogger says they won't turn their blog into a pregnancy/baby blog, but they do, and that is A-OKAY, its fun seeing all the updates and baby news. Who wouldn't want to hear about that?

That is unusual your friends don't want to be told, I'm not sure I've ever heard that before. haha I'd definitely want to know..as a pregnant person or as a friend.

Hope you start feeling better soon!
