Viral Bible - Get involved!

During 2011 two hundred limited edition bibles are being released at different Christian conferences all over the UK.
They are called Viral Bibles.
Each bible has a unique code written in the front and the idea is that when you receive one you highlight your favourite verse, log the position of the bible on the Viral Bible website and then pass the bible on.
You can log on and track your bible and be inspired and challenged by what God has been saying to other people through his word.


I love this idea a lot. I love seeing what other people have chosen as their verse and also seeing how far afield some of the bibles have got.
We were given one of the bibles at the weekend and when I was thinking about who to pass it on to I had a really fun idea…
I thought what if I opened it up to my bloggy friends? We could share our favourite passages to encourage one another and then I could randomly choose one person to send the bible on to. We could see how far round the world we could send the bible!
So, here is how it is going to work….
1. Post your favourite verse, or one God has spoken to you through most recently in the comments below.
2. Be prepared, if chosen, to receive this bible, highlight your verse, log it online and then pass it on promptly.
If you don't want to receive the bible but still want to share a verse, that's fine. Just make it clear in the comments.


3. I'm going to give you until Tuesday 8th November to post your verses.
4. Be encouraged and challenged by God’s word.
I am seriously happy to send this anywhere in the world; in fact I would love to send it somewhere completely crazy, so post about it on your twitter, facebook or blog to get more people involved!
{I'll probably send some treats along with the bible too - who doesn't love exciting mail?!}
And even if you don’t get chosen it’s still a great opportunity to encourage each other with God’s word.

Here’s my highlighted verse:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

  4. I've never been much of a Bible reader but my favorite verses (while in Catholic school) have always come from Ecclesiastes. All is vanity, and nothing new under the sun... that kind of stuff. It helps put things into perspective, I think.

  5. I love this idea! The very that most recently really spoke to me is Matthew 10:29-31

    "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

  6. Wow, I absolutely LOVE this idea! I think it so awesome that you are pursuing this and allowing your readers to be a part of this!! One of my all-time favorite verses is:

    "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

    I feel as earthly Christians, we forget to listen to the true and honest words of Christ alone without letting our worldly habits influence our thoughts.

    Second, you sending it to someone you "met" through your blog is also a cool idea!

    I have too many favorites to narrow it down, so I'm just picking the one that popped into my head first.

  13. What an amazing idea!

    One of my favourites is Psalm 121,

    1 I lift my eyes up to the hills- where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

    When I first came across this passage in was in a KJV and the translation instead of help is strength. 'I lift my eyes up to the hills- where does my strength come from? My strength comes from the Lord'

  14. Amazing ideas, I have tears in my eyes because the verses some of the verses on here were what I needed to hear.

    Mine would be Joshua 1:9

    "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

  17. That's an awesome concept. My favourite is actually also those Philippians verses, but my other favourite is 2 Cor 4:17
    For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
