Bucket List #10: achieved

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway. You have until Friday evening!
Also – Good news! You know the dog that Josh ran over? It’s alive! We drove past the same house today (at about 2mph, just in case) and saw it standing outside. Horray, we didn’t kill someone’s pet!
On Sunday afternoon I was invited to go out on a boat trip with two of our friends from church. It was all a bit spontaneous as they only invited me when I got to church in the morning and so my first thoughts were ‘no I can’t possibly go, Josh is working, I’m not dressed right, what if I get seasick?’, but then I pulled myself together and remembered that I want to make the most of every minute we have left in Aber…and I’m soooo glad I did!

We sailed out of the harbour and turned left down the coast of Cardigan bay. The sea was fairly calm and I was very surprised that I didn’t feel seasick at all!

We saw huge jelly fish, Gannets diving, Seals, Gulls, Cormorants and Fulmars {I was having too much fun to change to my zoom lense so there aren’t many photos}.
You can just about see a group of seals hauled up on a rock in the middle of the photo below.

Time soon passed by and we needed to get into Aberystwyth with the tide, so we turned back. I was busy snapping photos of cliffs and of the town in the distance until my camera battery ran out.

But thankfully, thankfully, THANKFULLY I had a spare battery in my bag because as we drew close to the harbour we could see lots of people standing on a jetty looking into the sea. My friends had mentioned that dolphins often come to the harbour mouth to feed and so I was immediately excited.
Normally I’m the person on the jetty watching dolphins from afar being super jealous of the people in boats that get to be really close…but this time it was my turn!

As we drew closer we saw the first fins slicing through the water, and as we approached the harbour it was clear that the dolphins were coming towards us to have a look at the boat.

It was so amazing! I loved it! It’s only a small boat and we were really close to the water so we got amazing views. The water was so clear that at one point we could see a dolphin lazily swimming directly under the boat. Did I already say it was amazing? IT WAS AMAZING!
I’m so glad that I decided to take up the invitation. I had so much fun and if I’d let my original worries get in the way I wouldn’t have made these wonderful memories. Thanks to Bridget and Amos for inviting me along!

  1. Too bad Josh wasn't with you. That looked like an amazing time. Even if you hadn't mentioned that it was amazing a *few* times :) How fun!

  2. WONDERFUL!!! :] I'm so pleased for you... I love those moments and well done for deciding to go and just woop woop!! :] Ah I love Aberystwyth, I've never been that close to the dolphins. One time I was on the jetty in the rain with chen and a seal came really, really close to us and it was the most magical moment, probably one of my favourite memories ever. :] xxx

  3. I love boat trips - I bet that was amazing!
Incidentally, it used to be law that if you ran over a dog, you had to stop and try to inform the owner. That law did not apply to cats, only dogs (owners being unable to control and therefore not responsible for the actions of cats!). I don't know whether it still applies of not!

  4. That looks amazing! What a fantastic thing to see!

  5. WOW!! Looks amazing!!!
Glad you had a great time!!
